The Sea Org is a Frantic Hamster Wheel to Nowhere

I spoke in my last clip about the frantic state of operation of the Sea Org and how this instills a pretty crazy ‘work ethic.’ In this clip, I elaborate on this further by giving some actual examples of the kinds of emergencies we had to deal with and the kinds of pressures we faced around those.

This clip was excerpted from Critical Q&A #38, first published on January 2, 2016.

  1. Chris, nice glimpse into Sea Org life. When I was in Marketing, we were supposed to produce a brochure for “The Basics.” It was a constant flap. Everything we did was rejected, and getting it resubmitted was always an emergency, requiring working all night every night. I was offloaded for 6 months, and when I returned to the Base, they were STILL working on this same 16-page brochure. When I left the SO, my first job was at a weekly magazine, where we had to produce, design, write an lay out a 60-page magazine every week. And it was easy – we did it while working 9 to 5. The difference was astounding to me.
