My History in Scientology

I was invited to give a talk in Union, Kentucky on May 6, 2015 to the Tri-State Freethinkers Association regarding Scientology. I spoke about my personal history, the basics of what Scientology is all about, and various reasons it is a destructive cult that is only interested in making money, not really improving the world or “clearing the planet”.

  1. Oh Yay! Going to watch this later tonight. Thanks, Chris, for the constant stream of common sense. What you are doing here is just the sort of thing I was reading and watching when I first started looking. The over the top rants and mockery from some, were just a bit harsh for my newly out ears. Your style can speak to the “newly looking” and the “long outs”.

Thanks for doing the work 🙂

  2. I really liked it when you added the transcript. I’ll have to listen to this later but I have had a question rooming around my head for a few weeks… I was wondering about thinking and wishing others have bad karma as a result of their overts if you will (what that’s not a word? Save for later), OK transgressions. Something didn’t make sense about that. Then how did I get ‘bad karma’ when I thought I was being good?
I’ve settled on first, all those 40 years weren’t so bad and I learned a really lot shoved into 40 years – a good thing. Then what about if there could just be a middle in between bad karma and good karma. Could it be that the karma thing is a trap of sorts? I’m thinking perhaps so. And I can’t really wish bad karma on anyone LOL it doesn’t work like that. Just getting rid of another bad habit I guess.

  3. Like everyone before me,I say, thank you for all the work and time that you have put into this endeavour to characterize the destructive evil of $cientology and to also portray the mindsets of those victims who are still in and under the hypnotic spell of the Hubbard ‘black magick’. I clearly can see in my brother and his wife, the terrible attitude changes that you so colourfully depict. Please have the time and moral fortitude to keep helping, with others, to bring this vile cult to it,s knees. You are doing a tremendous social service all over the world. Scott Tweedie ( Australia)

  4. It seems that many years in Scientology can cripple a person’s ability to function and succeed in the real world. How do you overcome the paranoia that Scientology instills, such as the irrational fear of psychiatry, psychology, mainstream journalism, government, public education, and non-scientologists?

  5. Great videos Chris. Very wog-friendly & informative, but it leaves me wanting more. Do you have any updates on Leah Remney departure. She seems to have popped back into public and is speaking her experiences in the church.

  6. Hi there Chris, as usual, well spoken and thought out. Incredibly, the time does fly, that did not feel remotely like nearly 1.5 hours. Fantastic stuff. Even though I have been following the subject of scientology for some time, I am a Bunker regular, read Mike Rinders blog etc. I still learn something new with each new video / story that is told. As someone who is a never in, but sadly have a relative stuck inside, I find it heartbreaking to hear some of the stories. I salute you and all the others that have survived both physically and mentally the abuses meted out to you in the name of religion. Please don’t stop speaking out, you have a wonderful ability to speak in public.
