Some Obvious but Uncomfortable Truths

I did a bonus live stream today, just me talking this time, about current events and some thoughts I have been having about parallels with certain aspects of cult thinking and mechanisms. I go over some obvious truths we all agree with but fail to see manifest in troubling times as well as some points from Lifton’s criteria of thought reform. Enjoy!

  1. Dear Chris,

I have to say I’ve been full-on supportive of you and your cause against Scientology – for sometime.

Sadly today I started watching your podcast on Scientology and Mormons and I was saddened to hear you try to some relate the two churches. Members of the Church of Jesus Christ And the leaders of the church of Jesus Christ are not anything like the leaders in Scientology. Nor are the practices or the beliefs in The Church of Jesus Christ like anything that in Scientology.

The LDS faith is centered around “Christ the Savior of the world”. Scientology is centered around “ones self” and “ L Ron Hubbard.“
L Ron Hubbard had so many troubling things from sailing the sea to avoid IRS agents to a paranoid schizophrenic personality that he tried his entire life to come to grips with. The aftermath of L Ron Hubbard is nothing more than damaged people well as himself Very damaged person.

(your guest ) left the LDS faith but on the way out did he have to light a match and drop it. No one was holding his arm and making him stay and no one would disconnect from him and no one would follow him around with PI’s.

So, it is Absolutely insinuating that the LDS faith has any ties links or similarities to the church of Scientology is just wrong!!!

I also want to make it clear that members of the Church of Jesus Christ, are not perfect and we never have proclaim to be perfect and in fact I’m sure there’s a small amount that do bad things but isn’t that why we all have a savior. The Church of Jesus Christ has a zero tolerance for abuse and I know that 99% of leaders try diligently to be good leaders – but remember even the best of people have their weaknesses and may succumb to them but the church of Jesus Christ would never allow anyone to be abused and Would never allow it.
If they were caught or somehow discovered they would be immediately turned over to the authorities. (Chris, are you listening? No one is like the leaders of Scientology) I have to say I was highly offended at how you tried to parallel Scientology to Mormons – that was highly offensive. Like I said, (your guest) has every right to express his doubts and disbelieves but it is nothing like Scientology.

For one thing it’s “Christ” is the center an Corner stone of our religion. Jesus Christ is the savior of the world not around Joseph smith. We redeemed Joseph Smith as a prophet of the church but we do Not worship him. Remember in Scientology you worship L Ron Hubbard… Joseph Smith is just a great leader but never a savior as Jesus Christ is.

“You should look into what the real fastest growing religion in the world is…. and there you will find peace, respect and a life centered around Jesus Christ and his teachings.”
